What is it?

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder, also known as TMJ pain dysfunction syndrome, is a condition characterized by pain in the jaw. The TMJ is the joint that connects the jaw to the skull, enabling the opening and closing movements of the mouth. This joint is located in the area of the auditory canal, which can lead to confusion and suggest that the pain is in the ear.
