Jaw pain TMJ

What is it?

Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), also known as TMJ pain-dysfunction syndrome, is a condition characterised by pain in the jaw. The TMJ is the joint that connects the jaw to the skull and allows the mouth to open and close. This joint is located in the area of the ear canal, which may cause confusion and lead one to think that the pain is ear pain.

  • Jaw pain
  • Difficulty in opening and closing the mouth
  • Clicking or crackling sounds when moving the jaw
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Earache
  • Pain when chewing
  • Feeling of tiredness in the jaw
